Let's see who notices first

If you know who I am, then you now have ....

a new grandpuppy!

or niecepuppy!

You too could be Rita / Frito 's favorite uncle or auntie!

Of course she has a flickr set.

Rita / Frito is 19 weeks old, maybe around 20 pounds, and she was born in Tennessee. Her foster people were totally awesome and took great care of her. So far ... she's scared of Lucy Cat (who isn't?), figured out that the bathroom feels safe, is a big snuggler, and is chewing appropriately on her chewy toy, for like an hour now. We haven't really been apart yet, so we don't know if we bark when alone, or if we chew shoes when alone, but we have plenty of time to figure that out! She gets along great with other dogs and with kids. She is part beagle, shepherd, and maybe a mix of all kinds of things.

WEEEEEEEEEE!! I'm totally in love. You will be too when you meet her.

Here's a pic from when she was younger.

She came with the name Rita. But Frito keeps popping up as an alternative. Holler if you have name suggestions!

More Marlo! More snow pics!

After setting my alarm for 6 AM, I shoveled my car out from a mountain of snow having been plowed in by the plower dudes. The rule is that they completely plow the municipal parking lot after big storms from 7 AM - 9 AM, and if you're not out, they'll tow you out. And, you can't park your car on the street until 6 AM or so, so there's no getting around the early AM wake up call to workout. And what a workout!

But, there were a few bonuses -- a pleasant conversation with my landlady, who is one of those freaks who gets up that early (to work, of all things), and some lovely light on the buildings in the neighborhood. Who knew the light was nice at this hour? Enjoy!

The second wake up call of the day was to visit Marlo around noon or so. Marlo is still beyond CUTE and a total SPAZ. How will I resist taking pictures everytime we meet? How?

Eeek! Technical difficulties and Vote for Bo!

The connection between my digital camera and my computer is no longer working, so I have no new pretty photos to post. :-( On my camera, I've got some great Tio Pepe shots, Luau pig shots, and new pics of little Miss Bo spazzin. Hopefully, the happy Canon folks will have some good tips for me to solve the problemo.

Unitl then, ya'll want to vote for your favorite Bo photo? Go here, ignore the first 2 photos that show up, and then vote for your favorite Bo shots (all Bo pics are tagged with key word "Boregard"). Why? Inquiring minds want to know! And, I may have a Bo project in the works depending on how much procrastinating I need to do. You can post your vote comment on the photo on my flickr site, on this here blog, or email me if you know who I am. I don't know who I am so good luck there.

Current flickr stats:

This Bo photo is deemed the most "interesting" by flickr. Anyone know how the hell flickr calculates interestingness? It's #80 in my interestingness pile.

This Bo has the most views or "hits" of all the Bos. Currently at #5 overall for my flickr site.

No one has marked a Bo photo as a favorite on flickr. The caninity!

Bo Update!

Dudes! Bo's Arts the book is out! That's right. Pages of stunning Bo vignettes and Bo inspired art. If you're in Western Massachusetts you are required to attend the reading on Flag Day at the Lady Killigrew!

Of course, many of you avid Buggin' You readers already know Bo so well, but I tell you, there is even more to know about Bo.

Buy the Book!

Read the review in the Montague Reporter (by yours truly)!

Attend the reading! See the man behind the dog. Hear bonus doggy and flag related words by Sara Jaffe, Liz Hughey, and me! Pet Bo!

58 degrees! Spring is taunting us -- 0 degree low forecast for Saturday

Had a lovely afternoon here in Turners. I stole Bo and we walked by the River. Everyone who could escape their commitments was out walking around with their kids or doggies. It was spring fever madness I tell you! More at flickr.

Mock Not the Snot of Death

… for it hath drilled some new holes in my brain, so it could hang out there. Needles to say, I’ll be calling my acupuncturist in the morning.

As for doggy and kitties? They’re still wearing their power cute suits and getting along in moderation. Here’s to a less snotty Monday.

Bo and I had a peaceful moment by the river (below). I'm the one taking the picture.

Fuzzy Fun

While I slept, someone bit holes into the cover of my paperback book, How Dogs Think.

IMG_1723_1.JPG

TIO POOOOPY appears to be making an editorial comment on our collective dog sitting project which lasts until the 17th. The kitties seem to be much more comfortable around Bo now though. It might have helped that on Tuesday Lucy learned that she could tag Bo on the nose, and Bo would run away. :-) You go girl kitty! Bo has been following me around the apartment watching me (especially when I'm in the kitchen getting snacks), and Lucy's been hanging a few feet back watching Bo watch me. Very One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Tio and Bo sniffed noses yesterday on the couch, which was pretty damn cute. Lucy has made it perfectly clear that I'm still in trouble for leaving over the holidays, and is velcro kitty even when Bo is close. The Animal Fest in Turners is the perfect January indoor entertainment folks!! Especially when I'm just spacing out trying not to let my sore throat turn into a cold, and it's cold outside (but thankfully unseasonably not as cold as it could be given it's January in New England.) More entries later on my holidays if I can fight off this cold .... FIGHT FIGHT!

Current Status-- Bo is on the couch.

One of many more entries to come chronicling the adventures of Bo Doggy

I'm Bo Doggy sitting this weekend! The kitties are fine technically, but showing clear signs of being miffed (Lucy) and petrified (Tio Pepe). We're all still alive though, and Bo seems to be settling in ok. Here are some pictures highlighting our first day.

You guessed it ... More photos!

I'm having too much fun with my new camera, the snow, and my new best friend, Bo. Did I mention I get to doggy sit Bo in January?! Smiles all around. Here's my latest adventure today. I'm still working out how to improve focusing and taking pictures in low light settings, but every time I shoot, I learn more. Even though several photos are still fuzzy, I kinda like them. And by default, if there's a doggy or kitty in the photo, then it's great, because even if it's fuzzy, they ARE fuzzy, so it just works.

Here's a brief sampling:

What's better than snow? A doggy in the snow!

I was spazzin about the snow this afternoon (as every girl from the Willamette Valley should), and when I power bugged my neighbor/MFA comrade when he was in a writing zone, he was kind enough to let me steal his awesome dog Bo for a walk. We had great fun. And we met the lone goose in the Connecticut, chillin with the duckies. See all of the evidence here!

Here's Bo, checking out the start of sunset:

Here's the goose, checking out duck butts:

IMG_0614_1.JPG

So far, I must say Turners Fallsians know how to deal with snow (unlike Seattlites who are just dumb, mostly). Bunches of folks had their snow blowers, snow shovels, and snow plows out. That's right, not just the town has snow plows, but many folks have their own, or run a business of snow plowing. Bunches of rigs had them mounted to their fronts. If I ever get in a jam, I'm going to call the Plow Frau, who I saw today, because the name is poetical. I hoofed it to the hardware store (yes, tons of stuff is within walking distance here!), and bought a snow shovel and snow broom/sweepy thingy, and I uncovered my car after I found it looking like this:

IMG_0602_1.JPG

I gave it a snow mohawk on the roof (too dark to get a photo), and then drove it a few feet in the parking lot, just to get my snow driving training wheels on. I didn't need to go anywhere, but it was nice to know I could if I had to. If I had been truly stuck, the police station is just across the street. I'm sure some strapping young officer would have come to my rescue. We can hope anyway.
