It's about freedom!

News flash! The Sherman Alexie paper is done and turned in, so I'll stop whining and stressing about it. Now, time for a cat nap!

IMG_2026_1.JPG

I've got some other pics on flickr too, but I'll put up even more soon, now that I have my life back. It's about freedom!!

And, did I mention, Tio Pepe is really an alien?

Once in a while, MSNBC has an intriguing story

Political bias affects brain activity, study finds

This means ... we're all biased, kids! Keep this in mind ... hehehehe.

And now, for a little tidbit more like MSNBC...

By request - Apartment pictures

Mz. Zeigen requested I post more photos of my apartment and of the UMASS campus. I hoovered this afternoon, so I figured it was tidy enough to shoot some pictures. Enjoy!

Maybe not

I tried to go for walksies today because it was 51 degrees (!!) outside, but when I got out there the wind was super nasty and blowing all of the dirt and gravel from snow plowing into my eyes. Most every bit of snow is melted, though we might get some on Monday. I've been told my first winter here has been "easy." It's not over yet, so we'll see. We did have snow last weekend, and Monday when I took Bo for our last doggy sitting walksies together at dusk, I was thinking how amazing it had been that I hadn't pulled a Gracie yet, and fallen on my butt on the icey sidewalks. Jinx! Of course, I then promptly fell. Sigh. I think that was the first (and so far only) day that the weather really annoyed me. I had to park my car 2 blocks away because of this village's random parking policies associated with snow plowing, I got stuck in a traffic jam for no reason on 91 (jams hardly happen here!), and I had to drive slower on the back roads to not slide off of them, making me late to all of my appointments, and my left foot was hurting because my snow boots really don't have enough arch support (fixed! I bought new boots).

Things are slow here ... no more Bo to play with (she's on a road trip to New York City to work on her book deal ... no really!), The Lady Killigrew is closed until mid next week, for the life of me I can't make decisions about whether or not I should do an additional internship at Wave Books (their site seems to be down at the moment - maybe they need ops help?), and if I'm lucky I'm maybe only half way done with my paper on Sherman Alexie's book of poems The Summer of Black Widows. I've been not letting myself do fun things, in order to get this paper done, but I'm not sure that strategy is really working. I'm just mostly crabby instead. Richie understands!!

Let's see ... since I didn't go for walksies today ... what's on my camera to share ...

Lucy's ready for classes to start again on January 30th! Go Lucy!

Mock Not the Snot of Death

… for it hath drilled some new holes in my brain, so it could hang out there. Needles to say, I’ll be calling my acupuncturist in the morning.

As for doggy and kitties? They’re still wearing their power cute suits and getting along in moderation. Here’s to a less snotty Monday.

Bo and I had a peaceful moment by the river (below). I'm the one taking the picture.

One big fuzzy family

Lest ya'll think I'm jumping to conclusions about the bite marks on my dog book belonging to Tio Pepe:

There are moments though, when we can just all get along!

Fuzzy Fun

While I slept, someone bit holes into the cover of my paperback book, How Dogs Think.

IMG_1723_1.JPG

TIO POOOOPY appears to be making an editorial comment on our collective dog sitting project which lasts until the 17th. The kitties seem to be much more comfortable around Bo now though. It might have helped that on Tuesday Lucy learned that she could tag Bo on the nose, and Bo would run away. :-) You go girl kitty! Bo has been following me around the apartment watching me (especially when I'm in the kitchen getting snacks), and Lucy's been hanging a few feet back watching Bo watch me. Very One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Tio and Bo sniffed noses yesterday on the couch, which was pretty damn cute. Lucy has made it perfectly clear that I'm still in trouble for leaving over the holidays, and is velcro kitty even when Bo is close. The Animal Fest in Turners is the perfect January indoor entertainment folks!! Especially when I'm just spacing out trying not to let my sore throat turn into a cold, and it's cold outside (but thankfully unseasonably not as cold as it could be given it's January in New England.) More entries later on my holidays if I can fight off this cold .... FIGHT FIGHT!

Current Status-- Bo is on the couch.

Hey kids - I'm back!

Safe and sound after hours of flight delays, then luggage delays, then snowstorm delays. I'm in BIG TROUBLE though with the wee fuzzy kitties. Lucy has velcroed herself to my lap, and Tio has been lecturing me. I have piles of photos to upload, so stay tuned for those. Sadly, the UMASS minuteman got beat out by the Cornhusker dude, but I don't care that much, in case you were worried that I had too much school spirit. :-P
