Still soggy, and more moose.

It hasn't stopped raining for the last 24 hours. I heard the gutters talk in my sleep, and my dreams got weird enough at the end that I had to make sure water wasn't lapping into my apartment. So, I got up to check at 1 p.m. :-) Nope, the street I live on is still fine. But a quick check of NOAA shows some rivers close to me (but not too close) might be getting wills of their own -- Millers River, Ware River. It's about soggy freedom!

Highlights from the Montague police log, brought to you by The Montague Reporter:

"10/7 6:31 a.m. Caller reports large moose at the Thomas Memorial Golf Course. The moose left on its own."

The rest of the police log can be summarized with -- lots of people drive that shouldn't.

That's pretty much a general rule for the planet, no? Lots of people X that shoudn't.

GOT UP to check... hmm... that implies you were in bed asleep before 1am! School is having an impact :-).

Yes, the "Cops and Courts" section of the Santa Cruz Sentinel (Santa Cruz's version of the Montague police log) is one of my favorite sections of the Senile's web site. Here's a gem from July 27,

Deputy: Clown act due to drug use

A 29-year-old San Francisco "street minister" working as a clown was arrested about 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the Brookdale Lodge’s Mermaid Room by a deputy responding to a call of a possible drug overdose, sheriff’s deputy Kevin Coyne reported.

When Coyne arrived, the 6-foot-4-inch man, dressed in a wig, foam rubber nose and disguised with face paint, was hunched over and being assisted by two people near the room’s stage.

The clown told Coyne his elevated pulse, shaking and other signs of apparent drug use were part of his act, which included a display of "intense fear." He said he was working on creating a clown character "based on manifestations of fear."

Coyne said he thought the symptoms were "manifestations of a central nervous system stimulant." A paramedic asked why he didn’t stop the act when he saw the deputy. He said he doesn’t go out of character in front of an audience.
